Editorial Policy
Editorial Vision and Commitment: The Journal of Occupational Health, Risk Management and Safety (JOHRMS) is dedicated to the advancement of scholarly research and professional practice in occupational health, risk governance, safety engineering, and environmental management. We are committed to publishing high-quality, original, and evidence-based articles that contribute to policy, science, and practice, especially in Africa and other developing regions.
Scope of Editorial Content: JOHRMS welcomes the following types of contributions:
- Original Research Articles
- Review Articles
- Case Studies
- Technical Reports
- Policy and Practice Analyses
- Field Notes and Brief Communications
- Book Reviews
- Commentary and Perspective Papers
All submissions must be relevant to the scope of occupational health, risk management, public health, environmental safety, or related interdisciplinary fields.
Peer Review Process: All manuscripts submitted to JOHRMS undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure objectivity, scientific accuracy, and scholarly quality. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. The editorial board makes the final decision based on reviewers’ recommendations, originality, relevance, and contribution to knowledge.
Review Timeline: Initial editorial decision is typically communicated within 3–5 weeks of submission.
Ethical Guidelines and Author Responsibility: JOHRMS adheres strictly to the publication ethics and best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Authors are expected to:
- Submit only original, unpublished work not under consideration elsewhere.
- Properly cite all sources and avoid plagiarism.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest.
- Obtain ethical approval for studies involving human or animal participants.
- Plagiarism and unethical conduct will result in immediate rejection or retraction of published articles.
Open Access and Copyright: JOHRMS is an open-access journal, allowing full access to published content without subscription or payment. Authors retain copyright but grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish. Reuse of published materials must cite the original source.
Indexing and Archiving: The journal is working toward inclusion in major indexing databases such as Scopus, DOAJ, and African Journals Online (AJOL). All articles will be digitally archived for long-term preservation and public access.
Appeals and Complaints: Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written explanation to the Editor-in-Chief. Complaints regarding peer review, ethics, or other editorial practices should be sent to info@johrms-unical.com.ng.
